SNAP was formed in 2001 to help an area in need by uniting
the community outreach programs in the Seatack Community
of Virginia Beach and the Oceanfront areas. By focusing
on education, recreation, health, welfare and employment
issues, SNAP provides unduplicated services and empowers
residents in the Seatack area to develop independence and
self-sufficiency.
SNAP's goal is to develop Seatack residents' life self-esteem
and family life skills so that households can be supportive
and hold themselves together. SNAP works with Seatack Community
assets such as churches, community groups, housing developments,
and the recreation center to reach and assist residents.
Funds raised from the Cardboard Boat Regatta play a large
and important part in helping SNAP continue its valuable
work. There's a saying that goes: if every neighbor helped
his neighbor, no neighbor would be without help. By supporting
SNAP and the Cardboard Boat Regatta, we ensure our Seatack
neighbor knows that someone cares and is willing to help
those in need.
